Authorship & Contributorship Policy
Individuals listed as authors should have made a substantive contribution to the intellectual or scholarly development of the work. Such contributions may include the conception or design of the research, methodology, investigation, collection or curation of data, formal analysis, interpretation, development of software or research resources, or substantive preparation and revision of the manuscript.
Every listed author must have reviewed and approved the version submitted to DLHD and, when accepted, the final version intended for publication. Authors must also be willing to respond appropriately to questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or provenance of the scholarly work.
Individuals whose involvement does not justify authorship should be recognized, where appropriate and with their permission, in the acknowledgements or contributor information rather than being listed as authors.
DLHD uses the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to improve transparency concerning individual contributions to published work. CRediT describes contributor roles but does not, by itself, determine eligibility for authorship.
Manuscripts with multiple authors should include an Author Contributions Statement identifying each author's contribution using appropriate CRediT roles. More than one author may share the same role, and one author may perform multiple roles.
A.A.: Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft. B.B.: Formal Analysis, Data Curation, Visualization. C.C.: Supervision, Validation, Writing – Review & Editing. All authors reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
The corresponding author serves as the primary communication contact between the author group and DLHD during submission, peer review, production, and, where necessary, after publication.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors are aware of the submission, have approved the manuscript, have agreed to the authorship information and order presented, and receive relevant editorial communications. Corresponding authorship does not imply greater scholarly contribution than that of other authors.
The order of authors should be agreed upon collectively by the author group before submission and should reflect the authors' agreed scholarly convention or contribution arrangement. DLHD does not determine the appropriate order of authors and normally will not adjudicate disputes concerning author position.
Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after initial submission must be justified in writing and communicated to the editorial office as early as possible. The journal may require written agreement from all listed authors and from any individual being added or removed.
Authorship changes requested after acceptance are subject to additional editorial scrutiny and may delay publication. Changes requested after publication will only be made when sufficiently justified and may require a formal correction or other update to the published scholarly record.
DLHD editors are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the publication process but are generally not in a position to determine the factual merits of disputes among researchers concerning authorship entitlement or author order.
When a substantive authorship dispute arises, editorial processing may be suspended while the authors seek resolution through their institution or other appropriate authority. If an authorship problem is substantiated after publication, DLHD may correct the scholarly record in accordance with its post-publication policies.
Where research is conducted by a consortium, network, or collaborative group, authors should clearly identify how authorship is attributed and provide an appropriate corresponding author. Individual contributors who do not qualify for authorship may be identified separately in contributor information or acknowledgements where appropriate.
Individuals who assisted with technical support, language assistance, administrative coordination, data collection support, access to facilities, professional advice, or other contributions that do not justify authorship may be acknowledged. Authors should obtain permission from individuals whose names are included in the acknowledgements where appropriate.
Generative artificial intelligence systems, large language models, chatbots, or other AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, ethical compliance, or accountability required of human authors.
Where disclosure of AI-assisted use is required, such use must be reported in accordance with DLHD's Generative AI & AI-Assisted Technologies Policy.
Membership in the DLHD Editorial Board does not prevent an individual from submitting scholarly work to the journal. However, an editor or board member who is an author, co-author, collaborator, supervisor, institutional associate, or otherwise has a relevant competing interest must not participate in the editorial handling, reviewer selection, peer review, or publication decision concerning that manuscript. Independent editorial handling will be assigned.
