Authors publishing with ALFI retain copyright in their articles. The journal does not require assignment or transfer of copyright ownership as a condition of publication. Copyright therefore remains with the author or authors, or with another legitimate copyright holder where applicable under relevant institutional or legal arrangements.
Retaining copyright enables authors to continue using, sharing, teaching from, reproducing, depositing, translating, adapting, and otherwise making lawful use of their work, subject to appropriate acknowledgement of the published Version of Record and any applicable third-party rights.
Neither ALFI, Yayasan Kalidaka Cendikia Nusantara, nor WISE Pendidikan Indonesia requires authors to surrender copyright ownership or grant exclusive publishing or commercial rights as a condition of publication. The journal's publishing rights are non-exclusive and are limited to those reasonably necessary to publish, disseminate, identify, preserve, archive, index, and maintain the scholarly record.
Unless otherwise stated for material not owned or licensed by the article's authors, articles published in ALFI are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under CC BY 4.0, users may copy, share, redistribute, reproduce, adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the licensed material in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that the conditions of the license are satisfied.
Reuse must include appropriate credit to the original author or authors, identification of the source, reference to the applicable license, and an indication of whether changes were made. Attribution must not imply endorsement by the original authors, ALFI, the affiliated institution, or the publisher.
Open licensing does not remove the obligation to acknowledge intellectual authorship. Users of ALFI content must provide appropriate attribution to the author or authors and must not present copied, redistributed, translated, or adapted material as their own original work. Citation and attribution requirements continue to apply regardless of whether reuse occurs within scholarly, educational, commercial, technological, or other contexts.
By agreeing to publication in ALFI, authors grant the journal and its publisher a non-exclusive right of first publication and the continuing non-exclusive rights reasonably necessary to publish and maintain the article as part of the scholarly record.
These non-exclusive rights include the ability to publish the accepted work, identify ALFI as the journal of first publication, produce and distribute the Version of Record, register and maintain DOI and bibliographic metadata, deposit metadata with relevant scholarly infrastructure, preserve and archive the publication, facilitate indexing and discovery, and maintain links between the article and subsequent corrections or other post-publication notices.
The granting of these rights does not transfer ownership of the copyright to ALFI or its publisher and does not prevent authors from exercising their own copyright and publishing rights.
Because authors retain copyright, they may reuse their published article in subsequent scholarly and professional activities. This may include incorporating appropriately acknowledged material into books, monographs, theses, dissertations, teaching materials, presentations, institutional reports, research repositories, subsequent research, or other derivative scholarly works.
Authors should acknowledge the ALFI Version of Record when republishing or substantially reusing material from their article and must continue to respect the copyright and licensing conditions applicable to any third-party material contained within the publication.
ALFI permits authors to deposit and share their manuscripts and published articles in appropriate personal, institutional, disciplinary, governmental, or other non-misleading scholarly repositories. No publication embargo is imposed by ALFI on the repository deposit of the published article.
Where the Version of Record is deposited or shared, authors are encouraged to preserve the article's bibliographic information, DOI, journal title, publication details, and license statement so that users can identify and cite the authoritative published version accurately.
The CC BY 4.0 license applies only to material for which the authors or other relevant rights holders are legally entitled to grant that license. Articles may occasionally contain photographs, figures, maps, datasets, illustrations, scales, instruments, text excerpts, or other third-party material that is subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions.
Material that is not covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license should be clearly identified through an appropriate credit line, copyright statement, license statement, permission notice, or other indication of its rights status.
Users wishing to reproduce third-party material outside the scope of an applicable license, statutory exception, or limitation are responsible for obtaining any permission required from the relevant rights holder.
Authors are responsible for identifying copyrighted third-party material included in their manuscript and for obtaining any permission required for its publication and distribution. Where permission imposes conditions that differ from the article's general open license, those conditions must be disclosed clearly before publication.
By submitting and authorizing publication of a manuscript, authors confirm that they have the legal authority to submit the work and grant the rights necessary for publication. Authors must ensure that publication of the manuscript does not knowingly infringe copyright, confidentiality, privacy, contractual obligations, intellectual property rights, or other legitimate rights of third parties.
Where copyright is held by an employer, institution, funder, government body, or another party rather than solely by the named authors, authors are responsible for ensuring that the applicable rights arrangement permits publication under ALFI's stated licensing terms.
Uses of ALFI content for text and data analysis, computational research, indexing, discovery, machine processing, or related activities are governed by the rights available under the applicable open license and relevant law. Users remain responsible for satisfying attribution requirements and respecting any separately identified rights applicable to third-party content.
ALFI does not impose contractual, technological, or other restrictions that contradict the permissions granted under CC BY 4.0. The journal does not apply an “all rights reserved” restriction to scholarly articles designated as Open Access under this license. Users may exercise the rights granted by the applicable license without seeking additional permission for activities already authorized by that license.
ALFI seeks to display copyright and licensing information consistently on the journal website, article landing pages, full-text article files, and relevant publication metadata. Published articles should clearly identify the copyright holder and state the applicable Creative Commons license.
Where an article includes third-party material excluded from the general license, the rights status of that material should be indicated as clearly as reasonably possible in the figure legend, table note, article text, acknowledgement, or other appropriate location.
The copyright and licensing terms applicable to scholarly articles published by ALFI are distinct from any copyright applicable to the journal website's design, logo, branding, interface, editorial documentation, or other publisher-owned material. The presence of a CC BY 4.0 license on an article does not automatically license separately owned website or branding material under the same terms.
The publication of a correction, Expression of Concern, retraction, or other post-publication notice does not erase the copyright or licensing history of the scholarly record. Where the status of an article changes after publication, ALFI will identify the change transparently in accordance with its Corrections & Retractions Policy and, where applicable, Crossmark and DOI metadata practices.
ALFI's copyright and licensing arrangements form part of its Diamond Open Access publishing model. Readers receive immediate free access to published scholarly content, while authors retain copyright and are not required to pay an Article Processing Charge. Open licensing provides the legal framework through which lawful reuse and redistribution can occur after publication.
Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Industry (ALFI) is affiliated with Yayasan Kalidaka Cendikia Nusantara and formally published by WISE Pendidikan Indonesia. Neither the institutional affiliation nor the publishing arrangement transfers authors' copyright ownership to the journal, affiliated institution, or publisher.
This Copyright & Licensing Policy should be read together with ALFI's Open Access Policy, Article Processing Charge Policy, Repository and Self-Archiving Policy where applicable, Publication Ethics, Corrections & Retractions Policy, and other relevant editorial policies. ALFI may revise this policy when necessary to reflect developments in copyright law, open-access standards, Creative Commons licensing, scholarly infrastructure, and responsible academic publishing.
