Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation
Prepare your manuscript carefully before submission to ALFI.
Authors should prepare manuscripts using the official Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Industry (ALFI) article template and follow the journal’s structure, citation, reporting, and research-integrity requirements before submission.

Official ALFI Article Template
Start from the original template—not a converted copy.
For the most reliable formatting, download the original DOCX template and edit it using Microsoft Word desktop. Preserve the existing page setup, styles, spacing, headers, footers, and section structure.
Important: The Google Drive version is provided for preview only. To minimize formatting changes, prepare the manuscript from the original downloadable DOCX rather than converting or re-exporting the template through an online editor.
Core Manuscript Requirements
Essential formatting and content expectations
01
Abstract
Write one self-contained paragraph of approximately 150–250 words.
02
Impact Statement
Provide a concise 70–120 word statement explaining why the findings matter beyond the immediate study.
03
Keywords
Provide clear and relevant keywords that support discoverability and indexing.
04
Citation Style
Use IEEE numerical citations consistently, such as [1], [2], or [3]–[5].
Manuscript Architecture
Recommended article structure
01
Introduction
Establish the scholarly context, define the research problem, demonstrate the research gap using relevant literature, and close with the objective, research question, hypotheses, and distinct contribution.
02
Literature Review / Theoretical Framework
Use this section when appropriate to the discipline. Organize the literature conceptually, define the guiding theory or model, and explain how it informs the study and analysis.
03
Methods
Report the study in sufficient detail for readers to understand, evaluate, and—where appropriate—reproduce the work.
3.1 Research Design
3.2 Participants & Sampling
3.3 Operational Definitions / Variables
3.4 Data Collection
3.5 Data Analysis
3.6 Validity, Reliability & Trustworthiness
3.7 Ethical Considerations
3.8 Equations & Mathematical Expressions
04
Results
Present findings in the same logical order as the research questions, hypotheses, or analytical framework. Emphasize patterns, magnitude, uncertainty, and substantive meaning rather than repeating tables.
05
Discussion
Interpret rather than restate findings. Explain how results answer the research question, compare them with prior literature, discuss plausible mechanisms and implications, and address limitations.
06
Conclusion
Provide a concise synthesis of the principal finding and its contribution without introducing new data, citations, or arguments.
Presentation Standards
Tables, figures, and equations
TB
Tables
Use minimal horizontal rules and avoid decorative vertical gridlines unless the data structure genuinely requires them. Keep tables clear, economical, and interpretable.
FG
Figures
Supply high-resolution artwork. Vector artwork is preferred where appropriate; raster figures should be at least 300 dpi at final display size.
EQ
Equations
Define every symbol at first use, apply italics consistently to variables, and number equations consecutively when referenced.
Research Transparency
Required end-matter and declarations
Complete all items that are applicable to the study.
